GETTING READY FOR CUBA
Our next water project begins tomorrow, January 22, 2019. After we join u with Lois and the group from St David's in Wayne Pennsylvania, we will depart
from MIAMI at 2PM. There are 13 of us going on the trip. We will arrive in Camaguey, near the center of Cuba, about 6 hours East of Havana. We've packed 3
water systems and all the spare parts we could fit into our bags. We have enough filter cartridges to last 2 years plus spare bulbs for the UV purification
system. We've also packed supplies for PLAN B, PLAN C and PLAN D, including items to outfit the kitchen sink area, set up an herb garden, vitamins, drinking
water pamphlets in english and spanish, and enough tools to split our group into 2 teams. We packed our first aid kit, batteries, charge cords, extension
cords, baseball gloves and CDWT team shirts. Eight checked bags total, 50 pounds each. By the end of the
second day we hope to be 5 bags lighter. The other 3 bags are items we will take to Havana.
Lois has done all the work planning the travel , accommodations, visas and scheduling. It's complicated planning group travel plus there are extra
difficulties traveling to Cuba due to the travel restrictions. Luckily the staff at the Episcopal Cathedral in Havana and our travel agent Magaly have helped
make it much easier.
